THB Re-Innovation helps countrymen affected by the Ecuador earthquake

A video has been released via online fundraising platform Generosity.com showing colleagues from THB Re-Innovation Ecuador helping to bring aid to the people of Manabi and Esmeraldas who were among those most seriously affected by the 7.8 earthquake in April which killed nearly 700 people and injured more than 8,000 others.

The devastating earthquake brought widespread destruction and was felt strongly by our colleagues in Ecuador at their office in the capital, Quito, over 100 miles away from the epicenter. Shocked at the scale of the disaster so close to home, the managing director of THB Re-Innovation, David Riofrio, established a Generosity.com campaign to import emergency water treatment plants to help the affected populations, and after very quickly raising enough among family and friends for the first plant, he called upon his insurance industry colleagues to ask for their help “for the desperate people of Ecuador who are suffering this terrible tragedy.”

David Riofrio reported that the campaign received donations totalling nearly USD 60,000 which paid for three Potable Water Plants and 2,000 emergency kits for the people of the worst affected region, bringing clean water and essential supplies to thousands of families who suffered in the tragedy. The remaining sum of over USD 4,500 was donated to UNICEF in a special emergency account for the reconstruction of the affected areas of Ecuador.

“We want to give a special thanks to AmWINS, THB UK and THB staff for their contributions to this cause and for helping us give hope to the people who lost everything” said David Riofrio, “thank you!”
